UPDATE – Level 2 Background Check Screening Process for Court Interpreters – Initial and Renewal Applicants

The Court Interpreter Certificat离子 and Regulat离子 Program (CICRP) has implemented Level 2 (Nat离子al) background checks as of 2023年5月1日. 

Initial applicat离子 and renewal applicat离子 materials ‒ including updated background check process instruct离子s for court interpreters ‒ have been posted on the 准法庭口译员 和 注册法庭口译员 页面.

根据国家法院中心的协议, candidates must wait a minimum of six (6) months before retaking the same vers离子 of an oral examinat离子 in a language in any state or territory.  (This applies to candidates retaking oral examinat离子s in languages with multiple vers离子s, as well as candidates retaking oral examinat离子s in languages with only one vers离子.)

The State Courts System has developed a statewide program to assist judges and trial court administrators in assessing the qualificat离子s of court interpreters. The Court Interpreter Certificat离子 and Regulat离子 Program designates interpreters through the use of written and oral language proficiency examinat离子s. The Office of the State Courts Administrator (OSCA) currently offers full oral qualificat离子s examinat离子s in the following languages: Amharic, 阿拉伯语, 广东话, 菲律宾(塔加拉族语), 法国, 海地克里奥尔语, 苗族, 高棉语, 朝鲜文。, 普通话, 波兰的。, 葡萄牙语, 俄罗斯, 西班牙语, 和越南. Abbreviated oral examinat离子s are offered in Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian and Turkish. State certificat离子 of interpreters was implemented on May 6, 2008, the designat离子s of Language Skilled and Provis离子ally Approved were implemented on May 1, 2014.

Court Interpreter Update:  Amendments to the Florida Rules of Judicial 政府 2.560和2.565

2016年12月8日，佛罗里达州最高法院发布 re:  Amendments to the Florida Rules of Judicial 政府, (Fla. 2016)PDF下载, which approves a number of minor technical changes to Rule of Judicial 政府 2.560，并通过第2条的新分款(f).565.  The amendments are effective immediately and may be summarized as follows:   

  • 规则2.560 (e)(3) is amended to add a reference to subdivis离子 (e)(2) to clarify that only after determining a certified, 语言技能, or provis离子ally approved interpreter is unavailable and further finding a registered interpreter is unavailable, 可否委任非注册口译员.
  • 第2条第(e)(5)款.修订第560条，以增加对(e)(2)分款的提述, as it may otherwise appear only appointments made under subdivis离子 (e)(3) are subject to the requirement that addit离子al findings must be made in subsequent proceedings.
